Welcome to this week’s Books to Film update. Ready? Here we go. (And a Hat Tip to Dan the Library Man for this info.)
They’re making Fahrenheit 451 into a film again. Currently it is still listed as being Announced and In-Development with a theoretical release date in 2010. All I know at this point is that neither Tom Cruise nor Tom Hanks are involved at this point.
David McCullough’s 1776 is reportedly in development to arrive on the big screen sometime in 2009. That’s all we know at this point.
And finally, Tim Burton is planning on doing Alice in Wonderland. No word as yet on what part Johnny Depp might play. This project is in pre-production, and due in theaters sometime in 2010. Reportedly, it will combine live action with CGI.

I am excited about the Alice in Wonderland film. With that director, it’s sure to be fantastical!
I totally agree, xboxwife.
Completely excited for 1776.
Do you think they’ll do a good job, felicity12?
Hmm…. I’m not sure. They did a good job adapting David McCullough’s John Adams, except for the slight miscast of Giamatti (Laura Linney completely made up for that.) So, yes, I generally think they’ll do a good job IF David is as involved and if they snatch a producer who loves history like Tom Hanks.
Well, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the project.
