The Fremont Main Library continues to offer movies on Sundays. With the start of a new year (Happy New Year!), movies in January will show people in their personal pursuits, new beginnings. Shows start at 2 p.m. in Fukaya Room B. Scheduled for showing are:
January 11 – Awakenings (Robin Williams, Robert DeNiro; PG-13). Dr. Malcolm Sayer (Robin Williams), a research physician, uses an experimental drug to “awaken” the catatonic victims of a rare disease. The awakening of the first patient proves a rebirth for the doctor.
January 18 – A Better Life (Demian Bichir, Jose Julian; PG-13). Carlos Galindo dreamed of a better life for his wife and newborn son when he crossed the border into the U.S. When his wife leaves him, Carlos’s only goal becomes to make sure his son Luis is given the opportunities he never had.
January 25 – Pleasantville (Reese Witherspoon, Tobey Maguire; PG-13). A brother and sister are magically transported through their television set and into the black-and-white world of a 1950s sitcom called Pleasantville.
