rewired to inspireThis is a pretty new program involved students 7-18 years old and adults aged 55 and up. The fun and successful kick-off event took place on May 20th.  After several months off, they are coming back to resume the program on September 16th, with a plan to have it regularly on every 3rd Friday of the month.

Sponsored by FUSS (Fremont Unified Student Store), this student initiated Care Project helps build a bridge between older adults and students.  Through this program, adults can act as role models by sharing their cultural heritage and wisdom while students can increase their communication and leadership skills as well as enhance their emotional intelligence (EQ).

marc-blackDon’t be a square this Saturday.  Instead jump into your hot-rod and burn rubber over to the Fremont Main Library for Marc Black’s concert “A History of the 1950’s & 60’s Through Popular Song”.  The songs range from doo-wop to folk to pop, with tunes by artists as varied as Dean Martin and George Harrison.  Many of the songs will be familiar and folks can sing along.

Marc has performed in the past with Art Garfunkel and folk legend Pete Seeger, recorded with John Sebastian (the Lovin’ Spoonful) and Eric Weissberg (of Dueling Banjos fame), and played at the Sundance Film Festival.

You know that this concert will be boss, so you won’t want to miss it.
