The Chinese New Year falls on January 26th this year and it is the Year of the Ox. Legend has that people born in each animal’s year would have some of that animal’s personality. Those born in ox years are obstinate, stable, fearless, patient, conservative, kind, hard-working and friendly. They tend to be engineers, painters, and architects. What animal year were you born in? In celebration of this longest and most important Chinese festival, Centerville Library has several fun activities waiting for you.

From January 27 through February 5, during the library open hours, English and Chinese lantern riddles will be posted in the library. Everyone can solve up to two riddles per day and will be rewarded with a prize if one or both of their answers are correct.

On January 27 at 2:15 p.m., everyone is invited to come and watch a lovely Chinese New Year preschooler parade held in the library.

On Febrary 3, bring the whole family to the library for two more fun events:
4:00-6:00 pm Chinese Lantern Making, stop by anytime before 5:45
5:00-6:00 pm Chinese Calligraphy Writing, you can request up to 4 characters.

All the events are free. Come join us for the fun celebration!
