Exploring , it is what the curious mind does. It can be in nature, on a city street , in a book , on a computer. It is how we learn. All of our summer reading programs have the theme of exploring this year. Today I learned about a new program here in Fremont, The Wonderopolis Challenge. This event, sponsored by The National Center for Family Literacy ,encourages families to explore the wonders of Fremont. Complete 3 of the 6 challenges and your family will be eligible to win a trip to Washington , D. C.

Are you a young writer who… 

   Wants to express your ideas in essays, stories and poems?

   Wants to learn and improve in the craft of writing?

   Wants to meet professional authors and learn from them?

Enter the Fremont Area Writers’ contest by July 14, 2011!

Fremont Area Writers is sponsoring a fun contest for students (elementary through high school) in Fremont, Newark and Union City. Contestants are asked to write articles about living in the Tri-City area. Subjects may be fiction or non-fiction and limited to 500 words.  There is no entry fee. 

Submit your articles to:

You will be notified if you are selected as one of the finalists. Finalists will be asked if they want to read their articles in front of the Judges.

There will be prizes awarded for each age group and a grand prize. 

The awards presentation will take place Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 1:30-4:00 at Paddy’s Coffee Shop, 3900 Smith St., Union City
