Created by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 2002, Money Smart Week® is a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. This is achieved through the collaboration and coordinated effort of thousands of organizations across the country including businesses, financial institutions, schools, libraries, not-for-profits, government agencies and the media. Money Smart programs at the Fremont Main Library this month:

Financial Elder Abuse    Wednesday, April 18   2:30-3:30 p.m.

 Prescott Cole, Senior Staff Attorney for California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform, will discuss how to protect retirement savings and home equity and how to recognize scams and techniques professional predators use.

Credit Reports & Credit Scores   Wednesday, April 25   3:30-4:30 p.m.

Learn from Alessandra Pio di Savoia, Housing Counselor from Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley: How to read a credit report, what     impacts your score and how to dispute items on your report.

Fighting Fraud – ID Theft and Scams   Wednesday, April 25   4:30-5:30 p.m.

Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley’s Alessandra Pio di Savoia shares what you need to do if you are a victim of ID theft, how to place fraud alerts and credit freezes and what you can do to protect yourself.

Estate and Trust Planning    Thursday, April 26   2:30-4:00 p.m.                               Monday, April 30   7:00-8:30 p.m.

Phillips, a Certified Specialist in estate planning, probate, and trust law with over 30 years of experience, will speak on estate planning, trusts, probate, and related tax matters.  James J. The Fremont Main Library, a branch of the Alameda County Library system, is located at 2400 Stevenson Boulevard and is wheelchair accessible.
