Thursday Thirteen #104
This Summer I fully plan to visit the Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz, CA. So, I thought that I would share a list of similar spots around the USA for you all to enjoy. Have you visited the one near you?
13 Mystery Spot-type Places:
1. Confusion Hill – Piercy, California
2. Mystery Spot – Santa Cruz
3. Big Mike’s Mystery House – Cave City, Kentucky
4. Mystery Spot – St. Ignace, Michigan
5. Paulding Lights – Watersmeet, Michigan
6. Montana Vortex and House of Mystery – Columbia Falls, Montana
7. Mystery Hill – Blowing Rock, North Carolina
8. Mystery Hill – Marblehead, Ohio (reportedly closing after the 2010 season)
9. The Oregon Vortex – Gold Hill, Oregon
10. Gravity Hill – New Paris, Pennsylvania
11. Cosmos Mystery Area – Rapid City, South Dakota
12. Wonder World Park – San Marcos, Texas
13. Mystery Hole – Ansted, West Virginia
I’ve only been to the Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz and it was years ago but I loved it!
They sound interesting. What is a mystery spot? I don’t think we have them in New Zealand.
These look like lots of fun to visit, we might have to give the one in Kentucky a try this summer. ~ Calico Contemplations
How very kewl. I’ve never heard of anything like it. I wonder if there are any in Canada. Thanks for the info.
Happy T13!
Now that is cool. I didn’t know there was one in West Virginia, which would be closest to me. Might have to take a trip up there!
I live in Michigan and always begged my parents to stop at the Mystery Spot but they never did. However, my husband’s family stopped several times. I’m still jealous.
I wouldn’t even KNOW where there is a ‘mystery spot’ in Texas.
My Thursday post is now posted if you’d like to drop by…. 13 sisters
Sadly, I am in the middle of Nowhere, AZ. The biggest mystery around here is why so many people live in this barren, remote place!
Great list. Enjoy your visit!
Thanks for sharing this list. I will have to tell my relatives in the US for they are also planning to visit one soon. Mariposa’s T13
There is also one in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Great idea for a TT.
Hope you’ll drop by my blogs for my T13s at The Cafe & The Library.
Wow, cool list! I’ve heard of the one close to me in PA, but have never been…I think I’ll be putting that on my to visit list when the weather gets better.
Happy Thursday! 🙂
Sorry not to see one in Tennesee. But maybe Kentucky is a possibility.
Fascinating!
Thanks, Krissy. I hope to have lots of fun travelling this summer.
Shelley, I don’t see anything listed in New Zealand. A Mystery Spot (sometimes called a Gravity Hill or similar) is supposedly a place where the laws of physics are in abeyance. Mostly they’re just kitschy fun tourist traps.
Have fun, calicocrazy!
Adelle, apparently there’s a “Magnetic Hill” in Quebec. – http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/14577
Let me know if you do, CountryDew.
Mary Quast, there’s a “Mystery Hill” in Irish Hills if that’s closer for you.
Texas, Hootin’ Anni? – There are the Marfa Mystery Lights in Marfa, a Ghostly Gravity Hill in San Antonio, And Wonder World in San Marcos.
I’ve never heard of a mystery spot. Sounds really fun. Will have to check some of these out some time.
Cool list. I’m not sure if I’ve been to Blowing Rock or not. That’s the closest to me. 🙂
What fun places to visit. My kids would have a blast at some of them.
yayyy to mystery spots and hope u have a terrific time fulfillin the adventure 🙂
More than just annoyed
