Recently, I had the opportunity to drive around Fremont and see some of the public art here in town. I had no idea that this place was so full of art. So, here is a wee taster of what is available. All of the names of art pieces that appear below are linked to pictures and a description. I hope that you enjoy the tour.
13 Pieces of Public Art in Fremont, CA:
1. The Fountain of Hippocrene
2. Jamie (at the Fremont Main Library.)
8. Dream Time
9. Penguins
10. Bear and Cubs
13. Dream Voyage (at the Fremont Main Library)
That’s a lot of public art! I think that’s more than we have, and Pittsburgh’s a fairly artsy city.
As for Soul Bendorff, you might have heard about this. San Fran city schools? Jimi Hendrix?
More about it to come — make sure you’ve got my current feed ’cause you’ll dig it. (It’s a Chelle commentary)
Susan, did you know that the Haight/Ashbury area of San Francisco had an art school on it in the 1920s? Already artsy back then.
Sounds like I need to take another trip to Pennsylvania. (My last trip was in 1985.) I await the next commentary from Chelle. 🙂
I particularly liked Dream Time and Dream Voyage!
I get to see Dream Voyage every day at work, Janet. Kids absolutely love it.
Great to see this on the blog! For a complete list of the public art, as compiled by the Fremont Cultural Art Commission and divided into regions, see http://www.aclibrary.org/branches/frm/default.asp?topic=FremontMain&cat=FRMPublicArtIndex.
More to be added soon, including the bronzed head of John C Fremont that lives in our future Local History area.
Nifty idea for a T-13 … makes me wonder what kind of public art exists in MY area.
Hugs and blessings,
I never miss an opportunity to photograph public art here in New York.
