Thursday Thirteen #43
Friday is Halloween, so what better way to celebrate than a Spooky Thursday Thirteen? (I don’t work on Friday, sadly, but be sure to stop by the blog for an appropriately themed post.)
Below I have listed thirteen songs that are considered spooky. Following the list, as a special surprise, I have included a playlist of the songs. (Click “pop out player” to listen, as I can’t seem to get it to show up the usual way. Sorry.) Do you have a favorite spooky song? Please let me know. If I can, I’ll add it to the playlist.
13 Spooky Songs:
1. Monster Mash – B. Pickett
2. Werewolves of London – Warren Zevon
3. This is Halloween – Nightmare Before Christmas Soundtrack
4. Purple People Eater – Sheb Wooley

Ever notice how many spookie songs are really more fun than scary?
I love Monster Mash!
These are all fun songs. Ghostbusters especially, I think.
[sings] He was a one eyed, one horned, flying purple people eater…
Did you ever see the Purple People Eater movie? Looking back it was ridiculous, but as a kid that purple dude terrified me.
I think I need to go get my CD of night ON Bald Mountain out now. Maybe I’ll put it on and freak out the kids. I remember the first time I played it in orchestra, I just didn’t “get it”. Fun list.
What a clever idea. I wonder what it would be like to have the Ghostbuster theme as a ring tone. Happy Halloween!
Monster Mash – a classic for Halloween parties
Purple People Eater – I still have that album from when I was a kid
Thriller – regaining popularity among the teenagers I hang out with
The Addams Family Theme – I remember this from watching the show. It still makes me laugh and I can still sing along.
Happy TT!
aliceaudrey, I have noticed that…but then I thought it might be just that those were the ones I liked.
Nicholas, me too!
Sandy, you should have seen me trying not to dance around my cube when I found that song for the playlist.
I never did see that film, Tobias. It may have been for the same reason as you pointed out.
I used to have that song on a record, Kristi. 🙂
*Imagines a Ghostbusters ring tone and is vastly amused* Happy Halloween, Brenda!
Excellent spooky song choices, Denise.
that’s neat that you were able to make that playlist!!
I too love Monster Mash. I also love Transylvanian Concubine–also from Buffy.
I’m back to answer the question you asked on my blog (I don’t always get back to other blogs, so I don’t assume others will get back to mine.) about the epublisher that is closing. Actually the reasons are just basic – not enough time and money to get everything done. The owner was a “one-person shop” who just got overwhelmed. *shrugs* It happens and I’m sorry it happened to her.
Thanks for asking.
she, I’m glad you liked it. 🙂
Journeywoman, ah! Rasputina. Good choice.
Thanks for bringing me the answer, Denise.
Good list…”This is Halloween” is all very well, but the best track from that movie is Oogie Boogie’s song. Hear and see it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw0aoVpFCDw
or what about those ominous notes that announce the shark in Jaws?
I love Thriller!
Here’s my TT # 52. Thanks!
Somehow when the Addams Family theme plays in my mind, i don’t have visions of spooky – they’re quite fun actually! Haha 🙂
Happy Halloween!
salviagrrl, Oogie Boogie is very spooky. Jaws isn’t something I thought of…probably due to the fact that I hum it as I push my cart about the library.
Jo, “It’s after Miiiidnight…”
Vera, well…the song says that they’re spooky.
What a great idea for a Thursday 13 this time of year!
The Addams Family theme sure brings back memories (and reveals my general age!).
I *love* Danse Macabre. The Buffy theme song is fabulous as well. Mad World from Donnie Darko comes to mind, but it’s more creepy than spooky.
Joyce T, *snap snap*
Fourth Breakfast, I love Danse Macabre, too. Have you ever seen the Jonathan Creek mysteries? They use it as their theme.
